Brass at The University of Alabama School of Music

The University of Alabama School of Music is becoming recognized as one of the premiere centers for brass study in the southeast. With an esteemed faculty of brass teachers who maintain active national and international performance careers, the brass area at The University of Alabama continues to produce graduates who populate the professional world of music at all levels as music educators, performers in symphony orchestras and military bands, university teachers, and more.

Alabama brass area applied instrumental professors bring to their students vast experience from some of the world’s most respected teachers, performance backgrounds cultivated in major artistic cultural centers throughout the United States, and a deeply rooted commitment to the future successes of brass students at The University of Alabama School of Music. The faculty’s varied careers encompass solo performance, orchestral performance, chamber music, and more, all at the highest professional levels.

Brass students at the University of Alabama perform with the School of Music’s Huxford Symphony, the Alabama Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble, and Contemporary Ensemble. Various chamber groups also contribute to the performance outlets available to brass students at UA, with the studios maintaining an active horn ensemble, trumpet ensemble, trombone ensemble, and euphonium and tuba ensembles.
