Music Administration provides undergraduate students with the background and skills necessary to function in the management aspect of the arts industry. Curricula include lab courses such as Management of Music Activities, in which students experience actual concert management from box office to backstage. Other lab courses include arts development and fundraising, exploration of careers in concert/commercial music, legal issues in the arts as well as a required internship with a local arts organization the final semester. Per request, Special Topics could include computer applications for arts organizations, museum management, and marketing the arts. In addition to the required core music curriculum and ancillary classes discussed above, this major requires the completion of a minor in business administration, entrepreneurship, management, or world business.
