Audition for Early Chamber Ensembles

All instrumentalists and singers (preferably music majors, but other experienced performers are welcome) are invited to audition for the UA Early Chamber Ensembles this semester!

The Early Chamber Ensembles are small ensembles, coached by Gesa Kordes, exploring early musical styles (medieval through Classical) under the aspect of historically informed performance practice. The school of music offers the use of a number of reproductions of historical wind, string, and keyboard instruments for student use. The groups are scheduled based on the individual availability and abilities of students, as well as appropriate repertoire and scoring. These are determined by brief, informal auditions for placement purposes. Each ensemble will perform in a concert at the end of the semester.

Audition information:

  • Dates: Thursday, 8/29 and Friday, 8/30, 3:30-4:30p, respectively
  • Location: Room 152
  • Repertoire: anything you are prepared to perform or working on at the moment – one excerpt or movement will do!
  • Sign-up sheets are posted on the door of room 152
