The University of Alabama School of Music is pleased to announce the inaugural Huxford Symphony Orchestra High School String Orchestra Workshop. This event will take place over Zoom October 22-24. This event is open to all high school music string students and presents the opportunity to work with University of Alabama faculty in a series of virtual masterclasses. This workshop is geared towards students who have an interest in pursuing advanced musical studies at the university level. Masterclasses with the full ensemble will address issues that arise from playing in the orchestral setting. Topics will include repertoire analysis and score study, strategies for practicing and rehearsal preparation, and audition preparation for University music programs. Participants will have sectional masterclasses that will address issues specific to each instrument, gaining valuable feedback from the UA applied string faculty. Select participants will also have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one virtual coachings with the string faculty. Learn more.
