Thoughts for our School of Music Family

Dear School of Music Family (faculty and students),

I hope you’re all doing well! I miss you; each and every one of you. We, collectively, have faced and successfully met a variety of challenges in recent weeks and months. Our School of Music family has stood strong, remained decidedly positive and productive, and demonstrated ourselves in a very strong light. I am so proud of who we are.

Our current socio-political environment represents yet another challenge through which I know we are all working in a variety of ways. Under the current circumstances and with the end of our most recent semester, it may be difficult for some to not feel isolated or potentially alone in such an environment. Please know that we stand together, we are together, and we will be together!

Our School of Music is an outstanding representation of the strength that comes from diversity, inclusion, and deep respect for each and every individual in their own right. Our School of Music family is stronger because of each unique individual that makes up its fabric. We, collectively, value each and every one of you, which makes up each and every one of us.

Should it be beneficial in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out; student to faculty, faculty to student, colleague to colleague, SOM family member to SOM family member. As we have always been, and always are, we are here for each other.

It is my hope that all of the recent and current circumstances will make the day when we are once again together that much brighter, better, and more meaningful. I sincerely thank each and every one of you for what you bring to our SOM family. You are valued and appreciated!

Please know that we are all here for you and with you; we are here for and with each other.

Wishing you all peace and health,

Charles “Skip” Snead
