UA School of Music Hosts Local Inclusive School Choirs

Every Friday during the Fall and Spring semester, the School of Music hosts Convocation, which is open to all music students, faculty, and staff. Each week is a different topic which can vary from baroque music to ear health to any and everything relevant to life as a musician!
This Friday, we will be featuring the inclusive choirs of both Hillcrest High School and Tuscaloosa Country High School, the Patriot and Wildcat Choirs. Each choir includes students with multiple, severe disabilities who sing alongside their typical peers. Both choirs focus on singing popular music — which is easier for the students with limited communication to learn and makes it possible to add simple instrumentation for students who are non-verbal to play. Each group will sing three selections before joining to sing together to close out the program. This is the fifth year of the choir at TCHS and fourth year at HHS, and we are excited to welcome them back to campus to perform.
