UA Opera Theatre Presents Die Zauberflöte Livestreamed

We are excited about our UA Opera Theatre production of Die Zauberflöte which will livestream on Thursday and Friday (Feb 25 & 26) nights at 7:00 pm with two different casts.  It will stream on the opera’s Facebook page, and each performance will stay on the page for a while for viewing later.

All safety protocols were observed in the rehearsal process, and are incorporated into the staging, including masks, social distancing, and duration in the space.  The stream will combine live work with previously recorded material for safety reasons.

The production, with piano only – again, for logistical and safety reasons – will be conducted by Caleb Harris, and Bonita Bunt serves as assistant director and stage manager.  We have a beautiful set, lighting and effects (pictured right) by former UA student Joey Lay, and imaginative costumes by MFA candidate Katarina Kristensen.

We cordially invite you to check out a performance from the comfort of your home.  It has meant a great deal to the students to create something like this in these times.  And to me too, when just a few months ago we weren’t at all sure what was possible.  Now we know!

Best regards,

Dr. Paul Houghtaling
