Contrabassoonist Roger Soren joined the Colorado Symphony in 2011, after holding positions with the Louisville Orchestra, Indianapolis and Jacksonville Symphonies. He has also performed as a substitute with the Montreal, Cincinnati, Grant Park, and Nashville Symphonies. As a soloist, Roger has performed the Contrabassoon Concerto by Daniel Dorff with the Colorado Symphony 2019, Louisville Orchestra 1994, IDRS Oklahoma Festival Orchestra 2010, and Symphony in C 1998. He gave the World Premier of Dorff ’s In A Deep Funk for solo contra at IDRS Northwestern U 1997, and played the solo contra part in the North American Premier of Hell’s Angels by Michael Daugherty for 3 bassoons and contra and orchestra in 2000 with the Louisville Orchestra. An active teacher, Roger has taught at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, University of Denver, Western Kentucky University, Bellarmine University and Florida State College at Jacksonville.
