Comprehensive Exams

For information on comprehensive exams, please consult the Graduate Student Handbook (Information for MM students, section 3.4; Information for DMA students, section 4.4); also consult your major professor and the chair of your committee (if not your major professor).

All enrolled graduate students must be advised for each semester of coursework. This helps ensure you stay on track to complete your degree requirements in a timely manner. Utilize the important links above to stay on top of all relevant information regarding your degree track.

Generative AI Policy

The School of Music has established guidelines for the use of generative AI in graduate-committee-based work (including exams, lectures, projects, theses, and dissertations—essentially anything graded by the advisory committee). Students are expected to familiarize themselves with these guidelines and to read carefully the accompanying SoM Generative AI Disclosure Form (which, as outlined in the guidelines, graduate students must submit in advance of beginning certain tasks and must include, completed, with final submitted materials). See the guidelines and the SoM Graduate Student Handbook for detailed instructions.
